# How Lead Retrieval works in the event app

The **Lead Retrieval** feature allows attendees to exchange contact details by scanning a QR code from the event app.

It is designed to make networking easier during the event: each attendee can show their own QR code for another user to scan or, on the other hand, scan someone else’s QR code and save their contact details.

### Before you start

For this feature to be available, the following conditions must be met:

* The attendee must be registered in the event app, meaning they must have a profile.
* Registration/login must be enabled in the app.
* The user must sign in with their credentials.

> Important: Lead Retrieval is only available in Eventool’s native apps, that is, the versions downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

### Where to find this feature

Once the attendee has signed in, they can access this option from their personal profile, under:

**My badge / Exchange contact details**

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1790495638-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8g1s4Beg4BZdw3Dp6hLd%2Fuploads%2FQnHz9NpIps4pJ0QiG5pb%2Flr-2.PNG?alt=media&amp;token=6d475845-41a1-45d5-976a-f93d2bf84a94" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

On this screen, the user will see:

* their personal QR code
* the **Exchange contact details** button

In this same section, the attendee’s personal badge may also be displayed.

### How to exchange contacts

Using this feature is very simple:

#### Show your QR code to another attendee

Each user has a personal QR code in their profile. Another attendee can scan this code to save their contact details.

#### Scan another attendee’s QR code

If the user taps **Exchange contact details**, the device camera opens so they can scan another attendee’s QR code.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1790495638-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8g1s4Beg4BZdw3Dp6hLd%2Fuploads%2FvmSMwlUAUnYY512IaBoX%2Flr-3.PNG?alt=media&amp;token=57973940-c56e-4cff-bece-c28e74d23ab6" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Once the code has been scanned, the app allows the user to:

* rate the contact from 1 to 5 stars
* add notes or annotations

The contact can then be saved.

### Where captured contacts are stored

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1790495638-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8g1s4Beg4BZdw3Dp6hLd%2Fuploads%2F0a4hTYpIEV9B4fhNx4ti%2Flr-4.PNG?alt=media&amp;token=86eae349-7295-4acf-89ee-b4fe4b9341d5" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Scanned contacts are stored in:

**Favorites > Contacts**

From there, the user can view all the contacts they have captured during the event.

### What information is exchanged

The information saved when scanning a QR code is the information the attendee has included in their app profile.

This includes, among other details, their:

* email address
* phone number

For this reason, it is important to keep in mind that the shared contact details will always depend on the information each attendee has completed in their profile.

### Exporting captured contacts

Users can email themselves all the contacts they have captured.

The export is generated in **Excel** format and sent to the email address the user is signed in with in the app.

### Important things to keep in mind

* This feature requires the user to have a profile in the app.
* Therefore, the event must have login/registration enabled.
* Contact exchange takes place using QR technology.
* Captured contacts can be rated and can include associated notes.
* Saved contacts can be viewed under **Favorites > Contacts**.
* The contact export is sent by email in Excel format.
* This feature only works in native apps.
